History

When being based on 1939 the National University of Cuyo, with one of its seats in the city of San Luis, the aspiration of the San Luis town took shape to have an educative institution of university level. At a first moment the Normal School of Teachers Juan Pascual Pringles ", founded on 1876, is only gotten up to the seat San Luis ". In 1940 an Institute of the Teaching staff is created in who to the Teaching careers  of Chemistry and Mineralogy and Mathematical and Physical were dictated.  In 1945 the Institute acquires the denomination of Pedagogical Institute and the career  of Teaching staff in Pedagogía and Filosofía is created.  1946 the Institute becomes Faculty of Sciences of the Education by Decree of the Executive authority National Nº 25.621. In 1948 the creation of the Institute of Pedagogical Investigations takes shape, in 1951 the School of Pharmacy is created and in 1955 a system of Degrees is implemented and the career of Biochemistry.  Also in 1955, the name of the Faculty of Sciences of the Education by the one of Faculty of Sciences is modified. In 1969, the Decree Nº 7,850 of the National Executive authority guarantees the modifications referred to the academic structure of the National University of Cuyo according to which the Faculty of Sciences is unfolded in two Faculties:  Faculty of Pedagogía and Psicología, and Faculty of Físico-Químico-Matemáticas Sciences. This structure stays until the 10 of May of 1973, when by Law Nº20.365 the National University of San Luis is created.
